[Continued]... I instantly lost my cool and with a sudden swiftness - swung my right fist and gave him a hard blow to his left cheek. 
"Ugh!" Kelvin grunted in pain, rocking to the side from the impact while covering his cheek with his left hand after my fist crashed on his face. Then he spat on the ground before turning to give me a furious look and was about rushing to hit me back when Chloe stepped in between us with both her hands on his chest and said in a loud voice "Kelvin Please!"

"You just saw him hit me!" Kelvin growled angrily to her face, edging himself forward towards me with Chloe constantly pushing him back.

"Am begging you, can we not do this please... Look at me..." She pleaded, raising her right hand up Kelvin's chest to reach for his cheek.

"Please Stop!" Kelvin fumed, grabbing Chloe's right hand on the wrist and pulled it down from his face. "I can't believe you'll want to hang around someone like this." 

"And what? That you're better off than me?" I scoffed angrily at him in a rhetorical tone, moving a step closer behind Chloe who turned quickly to face me with a disappointing frown.

"What?...you heard him call me a dweep" I growled in frustration, giving Chloe a questioning stare before leveling my gaze at Kelvin who was still staring furiously at me. 

"And don't think for a second am afraid of you... Good think she stepped in else I would have taught you a lesson!" I warned him in a somewhat threatening tone that only heightened his anger.

"Liam!" Chloe choked out - stomping her right foot angrily on the ground before facing Kelvin. 
She was somehow disappointed I confronted him, but I was even more vexed that she was trying to calm him down and not the other way around -- I mean, he was the one who started it!

"You know what?" Kelvin scoffed at me with a mischievous smirk on his face as he slowly began retreating his steps away from Chloe - pointing his left hand at me in a confronting manner. 
"You should actually be scared... I ain't gonna let this slide, and you'll regret ever hitting me. I bet you!" He threatened before letting out a devilish grin on his face and turned to leave. 

"Kelvin!" Chloe called out to him in a loud nervous voice.

"Fu*k you and your threat!" I yelled out at him as he kept walking without even turning to respond to me or Chloe who was now pacing about the garage with a worried look on her face.

"I seriously don't get why you're still with that guy" I blurted, turning to face Chloe after Kelvin was completely out of sight.

"It's complicated, you won't understand" She answered bluntly with a doubtful shake of her head as she remained standing - leaning her butt on the wooden table inside the garage with both arms folded in a pondering manner. 
I scoffed with my shoulders shrugged and said. "Looks more to me like you're confused and don't know where your heart..."

"Confused?!" Chloe gasped immediately in annoyance as she interrupted and stood erect - taking slow steps towards me with a frown on her face. "You don't get to know what I want and how I feel... So don't judge me by saying I am confused because am not!... Or you think I am still with Kelvin because I love him?!" She yelled in frustration with her eyes gradually becoming moist as she spoke.

"Then why?!... Why are you still enduring him if you don't love him? Why don't you just call it off with him?" I choked out with empathy in my voice and slowly moved towards her the moment she brought her steps to a sudden pause few metres in front of me.

"Because I can't!... I just fu*king can't Liam!... All this, everything -- it's just... It's weighing on me" Chloe growled bitterly, pulling her hair with both hands in frustration before turning around to back me - hiding the tears that suddenly rolled down her cheeks. 

"Am... I'm sorry. I didn't mean to make you feel sad." I consoled in a somewhat whispering voice - rubbing her shoulders gently with both hands as I stood behind her. 

Then Chloe shrugged off my hands on her shoulders and turned to face me with her cheeks wet with tears before saying to my face in a somewhat breathless voice. "You should have thought of that when you decided to respond to Kelvin... Now... Thanks to you - you've made everything even worse.."

"How?" I cut in sharply, gulping hard in nervousness at the weight of her words which made me recount Kelvin's threat and whether or not she was referring to it! 

So I clamped Chloe's shoulders and gave her a questioning stare while she continued sniffing and wiping off the flowing tears on her cheek with the back of her hand. 
"Please Chloe.. you have to tell me something, whatever it is you're hiding so -- so I can see if it's something I can fix please" I urged, sounding very worried and uneasy.

But all she did was shake her head and give me a sarcastic scoff -- as if finding what I'd just said to be funny or somehow a joke! 
"There's nothing you can fix Liam... I -- I just need... I need some time alone" Chloe replied under her shaky voice and turned to leave me - walking sluggishly back to the house with her arms still folded below her tummy.

"Chloe!... Chloe!" I called out in a loud depressed voice as I stood motionlessly - staring at the distance ahead as she gradually left without pausing or responding to my loud calls. 
At this point I felt faint with my legs wobbly and feeble; even the strength I once had to keep working vanished. All I thought off now was to go home and lay my head to rest for I was gradually becoming dizzy from all the drama that had just occurred.

I WOKE up around 7pm in the night after a long afternoon nap and was feeling refreshed and relaxed before heading to the dining room for dinner where i sat at the opposite end of the table - facing my mom and Shelly who sat beside each other. 

We all munched quietly at our food without anyone talking - only the clanging sounds of the spoon on the ceramic plate filled the room. I wasn't quite enjoying the silence in the dining room as it made me very uncomfortable - especially with Shelly who occasionally glanced at me with every spoon of fried rice she took; like she had something in mind to tell me. 

"The food is very delicious mom" I complemented halfway as I took a sip of water and leveled my glass cup back on the table. 

"Well, don't give all the credits to me... Shelly did most of the cooking actually" my mom chuckled - glancing amusingly at Shelly and back at me.

"Oh!" I exclaimed with a pretentious expression of shock. "So she's a better cook than I am ay" I teased with a wide grin on my face as i scooped another spoon of my rice - chewing hard while my gaze remained fixed on Shelly who blushed and lowered her eyes on her plate. 

"Thanks" Shelly giggled faintly and continued eating.
 
"And besides, when was the last time you did any cooking in this house?" My mom added playfully and laughed - sipping a glass of water as her laughter subsided.

I laughed also, shaking my head in amusement at my mom's tease when my phone vibrated inside my trouser pocket; a clear indication that I had a text, but from who?. 

"Urrhm... Let me get..." I stuttered almost inaudibly to myself and paused as I removed my phone to see who the text was from. Then I heaved a relieved sigh when I saw that the text was from Chloe and it read: 'Liam I didn't mean to sound so rudely earlier today. It's just that there are a lot of things I wish to tell you but I don't know how to... I'm sorry if I made you angry. So I guess we'll see tomorrow?' 

"Urrm... I need to take a walk mom. Thanks for the meal Shelly." I said immediately to my mom and Shelly after reading the text before gently pushing my chair back to stand up.

"A walk... Hope you don't stay out for long because it's getting late?" My mom asked, giving me a concerned look as I stood beside my chair. 

"Nope... I'll just reach the supermarket across the street -- maybe get one or two snacks and I'll be back" I replied my mom with a convincing smile on my face before turning around to leave. 

I just needed to get some fresh air - most especially, I was relieved that Chloe wasn't mad at me for my actions towards Kelvin today. 
So I dialled her line as soon as I came out of the house.
"Hey Chloe, how are you?" I said courteously over the phone as soon as she answered. 
"Am fine. I... I missed you" Her soft tender voice rang over the phone; filling my whole body with warmth while leisurely kicking on dried leaves and objects on the ground as i sluggishly strolled towards the supermarket far across the street while we continued conversing.

"Errm... Chloe, Can I call you back?" I said over the phone in a whispering voice and ended the call before Chloe could even give me a response when I noticed three guys on hoodies walking towards my direction - few metres to reaching the supermarket.
 
Although I wasn't quite sure if they were actually coming to meet me or if it was just my anxious mind playing tricks on me - especially when Kelvin's threatening voice rang once more in my head.  

So I dipped my phone behind my pocket and stood patiently to see if the three guys were going to pass me by before I continued to the supermarket. But to my horrifying shock, they didn't pass -- rather, they approached and stood in front of me with the two other guys purposefully flanking me on both sides.
 
It was at this point I knew they were actually sent by someone; and I thought of no other person aside from Kelvin. He was the only one who'll have the heart to send these guys after me - after all, he was rich and plus -- we had fallen out!
"Can I help you guys with anything?" I asked, sounding a bit nervous and frightened as I stood in the centre of their midst - turning my head quickly to glance at all three of them while trembling lightly from the claws of fear creeping down my spine as I slowly began to feel drained of energy - especially after seeing one of them remove what seemed to look like a...
